Local and Legislative Affairs

The Governmental Affairs Committee facilitates communication between Farm Bureau® members and local, state, and national legislators and legislating bodies.

The committee attends to matters that affect agriculture and Farm Bureau® members.

The Governmental Affairs Committee maintains positive relationships with legislators and their staff. Past legislative projects include monthly landowner meetings for Ameren Illinois Rivers Transmission Projects, maintaining a relationship with an urban “adopted” legislator, Representative Ann Williams, and consistent visits with U.S. Representatives and state and local legislators.

Rural residents face challenges unique to our urban counterparts. The legislative and local affairs committee works to help elected officials understand how new legislation may affect farmers and rural residents.
